Expanded Observation Unit Enhances Emergency Care Support
The remodel of the existing PT/OT area at Sanford Medical Center transformed the space into an ICU/Patient Observation unit, adding six Intensive Care, five Intermediate Care, and three Observation rooms. The expansion, now totaling 242 beds, includes patient and staff support areas, and equipment rooms. The project involved a complete overhaul of mechanical, plumbing, piping, and electrical systems, with the addition of a negative air system to treat infectious diseases, including Coronavirus. This system can be activated as needed to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
