Optimized Clinical Lab Design Improves Efficiency and Staff Moral
The Banner Desert Medical Center's Clinical and Pathology Lab expansion and renovation project involved replacing and accommodating seven departments, including Blood Bank, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Immunology, Test Management, Hematology, and Coagulation. The integration of the Sysmex automated lab testing system into the Roche automation line enhanced productivity and reduced errors. EAPC collaborated with hospital user groups through interactive design charrettes to optimize workflows, minimize staff travel distances, and ensure regulatory compliance. The project, executed in phases to maintain lab operations, included demolition and service connections during scheduled shutdowns.
