American Crystal Sugar Company Low Raw Centrifugal Station
Phased Installation of Advanced Centrifugal Machines Boosts Efficiency
A two-phase project upgraded a factory's centrifugal station by replacing seven machines with five new BMA K2300 low raw centrifugal machines. The upgrade included removing the existing mingler, installing a pressurized recirculating line, and adding new low raw mass pumps and piping. Modifications were made to the sugar scroll for increased capacity, and steam, water, and molasses lines were replaced and heat traced. Structural changes to the second-floor framing and a new concrete deck were required. Equipment controls were integrated into the Delta-V system, with new MCC sections, VFD, and line reactors added. The project involved detailed engineering, procurement, and construction management.
