EAPC welcomes Joe Bakke, project designer to our Phoenix office
Joe earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture at North Dakota State University in 2018. He also completed his Master of Architecture at NDSU.
During high school Joe spent several years working for a construction company, which he says gives him a different perspective on the architecture world.
“Having that experience in construction and seeing the details put into action was a great foundation to start my architectural career.”
Joe’s favorite project to date was working on the International Peace Gardens Cactus Conservatory, which is home to more than 5,000 unique species of cacti and succulent plants. “I’d never done anything like it. It’s something I never thought I would do, especially while living in North Dakota.”
After several years of working in North Dakota, Joe made the leap down to Phoenix. One of Joe’s NDSU classmates, a current EAPC employee, recommended he apply for the open position in the Phoenix office.
“Having engineers in-house at EAPC definitely drew me in. It eases coordination and elevates the drawings when everyone is following the same standards.”
Joe got his first taste of architecture as a kid with Lego sets and games like Roller Coaster Tycoon and the Sims. Starting around 10 years old, he would even measure the furniture in his bedroom and plan new layouts for the pieces.
In his free time, Joe enjoys all things outdoors. He spends most of his weekends camping, hiking, and mountain biking. On his bucket list is a camping trip to Havasu Falls.
Welcome to EAPC, Joe!
