Mariah's interest in healthcare architecture began during her graduate studies at Clemson University, where she developed a passion for creating environments that support healing and well-being. Her professional career has been marked by significant contributions to a variety of healthcare projects ranging from master plans for major healthcare providers to detailed designs for specialized care units.

Since joining EAPC in May 2023, Mariah has swiftly made a mark with her innovative approach and deep commitment to enhancing patient care through thoughtful design. Her work integrates evidence-based design principles with a profound empathy gained from firsthand clinical shadowing experiences during her internship.

“I am honored to have been selected as one of this year’s Next Generation Scholarship recipients. This scholarship will be an invaluable opportunity to connect with thought leaders within our community of healthcare architecture professionals and further expand my knowledge and network. I look forward to serving on the 2025 Summer Leadership Summit Planning Committee and sharing my experiences with our team,” said Mariah.

The Summer Leadership Summit, held on July 26-28, 2024, is an essential convergence of leaders in healthcare design discussing future trends and strategies from multiple perspectives including government, healthcare organizations, and the design community. The Summit offers networking opportunities with pioneers in the field and features panels and presentations that are pivotal for anyone at the forefront of healthcare design.

As a scholarship recipient, Mariah received $1,500 towards travel and hotel expenses, and had the unique opportunity to be mentored by seasoned professionals from AAH and ACHA. This mentorship is aimed at helping her navigate the summit effectively and maximize her learning and networking opportunities.

Dan Abeln, Healthcare Director at EAPC, notes, "This recognition is not only a testament to Mariah's skill and dedication but also an opportunity for her to deepen her knowledge and share these insights with our team. We look forward to her future presentation on the takeaways from the summit, and her continued contributions to growing our expertise in healthcare architecture.

EAPC is proud to support Mariah's journey and eagerly anticipates the fresh perspectives she will introduce to our team. Her achievement highlights our firm's dedication to nurturing talent and maintaining a leading edge in healthcare design. Mariah's success not only inspires but also signals the promising future of innovative healthcare architecture at EAPC.
