Machenna earned both his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and his Master of Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering from Oregon State University. He is preparing to take his Professional Engineering exam in Arizona soon.
Machenna first gained experience in the field as a Structural Engineering Intern where he worked on equipment anchorage projects and presented design proposals during client meetings. He then became a Structural Engineering Technician where he performed structural calculations, drafted sheet sets, made site visits, and compiled deliverables for residential and private company projects. Most recently, he worked as a Project Designer, where the company was subcontracted by exterior cladding and curtain wall manufacturers to design and engineer its systems.
"I've always had an affinity for math and science. I just like that you can explain how the world works using math."
At EAPC, Machenna is excited to get hands-on experience in structural engineering. One of his goals is to work on a project from start to finish and be involved in as much of the process as possible. "I just want to be a well-rounded engineer."
Machenna is spending his first few weeks at EAPC getting familiar with new software and learning from Senior Structural Engineer Tim File, who says, "Machenna is self-driven and enjoys learning. We're excited to have him on board."
"I started to get tired of the cold and rain in Oregon. I have some family in Arizona, and I've visited in the past and knew I liked it here, so I just decided that I wanted a change."
In his free time, Machenna enjoys spending time outdoors with hobbies like golfing, hiking, and playing pickleball.
We are excited to welcome Machenna to our Structural team!
